What is Restrictions (parental control) in iOS, How to set & change password for restrictions on iPhone, iPad & iPod touch

Let’s know what is Restrictions:

Restrictions on iOS is also known as parental control.

You can turn on Restrictions on your iOS device to prevent access to specific apps and features.

You can disable hide specific apps or features to child lock or prevent particular user to access Safari, Camera, FaceTime, iTunes Store, iBooks Store, In-App Purchases, Siri, AirDrop, CarPlay, Installing apps from Apple App Store, Deleting apps.

You can also block changes or availability of types of content for specific user including Ratings, Music and podcasts, Movies, TV shows, Books, Apps, Siri, Websites etc.

You can dictate & control changes to privacy settings including Location Services, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Photos, Bluetooth sharing, Microphone, Twitter, Facebook, Advertising.

You can prevent changes to Mail, Contacts, Calendars, iCloud, Twitter, Facebook, Vimeo, Flickr, iTunes, App Store, iMessage, and FaceTime. You can also disable Background app refresh, Find My Friends App, Volume limit, Cellular data use.

You can also block features within Game Centre such as Multiplayer games or Adding friends to Game Centre.

Why you want to use restrictions?

I would suggest enabling restrictions for your child with iOS device to prevent him from accidentally buying unwanted app or spending money online without parents approval

Here is how to set password to enable Restrictions or Parental Control on iOS Devices:

Step 01: Go to Settings > General

Step 02: Tap Restriction

Step 03: Tap ‘Enable Restrictions’ and enter a new password on prompt. You’ll need this passcode every time you want to change your settings or turn off Restrictions.

Step 04: Now change setting for App or feature to disable it or prevent or modify it from working on your iOS device as discussed above introduction

Now, Here is how to change Restrictions password:

I assume you have already enabled Restrictions on your select iOS device.

Step 01: Go to Settings > General

Step 02: Tap Restrictions on prompt enter your predefined password

(Note: Only way to change password for your currently enabled Restrictions is to disable it at it’s first step & reenable it with your new password that you want to set)

Step 03: Now tap Disable Restrictions it will ask again for your old password

Step 04: Now tap ‘Enable Restrictions’ as you have already disabled restrictions in Step No. 03

Step 05: Now enter new password you want set for Restrictions

Step 06: Now you can move ahead to change Restriction settings of your choice

Hope it helps.
