  • A Reality and Illusions of Marathi Movie Stars and Film Industry. Written on onset of Phullwanti Movie.

    Background

Yesterday I saw a Marathi movie called Phullwanti. But I was amazed that when I booked a ticket 18 hours before there were no bookings for the hall, I was the first to make a booking of two.

Now today, when I entered a cinema hall, there were only a maximum 10 to 15 seats, and remaining almost all 95% seats were empty.

    Now Phullwanti Film Review:

    Pros:

    1. The cinematography was great and would match any Bollywood or Hollywood movie.
    2. Music, colors, and costume design were great also.
    3. But only I was impressed with Prajakta Mali and Gashmeer Mahajani’s acting.

    Cons:

  • Balgandharva, A story of the era where Gandharva use to live in Hindusthan

Just now I came from film called Balgandharva portraying life of Artist itself…

Every frame of the film is well designed to era of the “Balgandharva”, No frame of the film is boring or any second of the story is wasted, Right characterization of every artist is unique…

Even 30 second roll of Actor Angad Mhaskar in character of Freedom Fighter “Kanhere” is heart touching & gives different dimension & direction to the film…

Today I can say I saw Today’s real Marathi Film, I may saw it three times but no money wasted or felt boredom…

It is the era of Marathi Natya Ranga Bhumi, Where all female rolls were performed by male actors…

Actor Subodh Bhave in the getup of Balgandharva is equivalent & By watching that you get the feel why that particular era was called The Gandharva era in Marathi Natya Ranga Bhumi…

  • Dhobi Ghat (Mumbai Diaries)

I really had a brilliant experience watching this film.

It’s real breathe of fresh air in this crowded city of movies.

“Three people, one city faces same happy moments & trauma at same time & at end all unites as city sleeps…!!!”

You as film viewer you experience the same feelings as film tries to convey.

It feels It’s great to be from Mumbai itself & view your city from another angle & through lens of Kiran Rao, The director of Film Dhobi Ghat.
